Channels

Page history last edited by techboy 4 months ago Saved with comment

Note: If a channel is not marked as RF, StartPatch or Preloader with hacks is required to run the out of region channels on your wii.

Channels marked "Discontinued" have stopped working and are no longer useful in any meaningful capacity. Some of these channels provided limited-time content for upcoming games, TV specials, or similar offerings. Many others, such as Weather, News, and the Check Mii Out and Everybody Votes channels were discontinued June 27, 2013 as part of a phase-out of WiiConnect24.

Want to contribute something that we don't have? Upload it here! (ZIP, 7z, RAR, and WAD accepted. No EXE, ELF, or DOL files please)

Can't find it here? Check the MarioCube Repo, they often have the stuff we don't.

If channels give a black screen when run, ensure that the required IOS is installed.

I've added a few links and channel entries, in return could someone upload the other Japanese Only Channels:
"みんなのシアターWii" (Everybodies Theatre Channel) (I costs 500 points but when changing shop region you lose all your points, so I can't get it from my end.)
"Wii Fit からだチェックチャンネル" (Fujisoft's health check, this is different from the Wii Fit channel and I think is separate from the japanese version of the Wii Fit Channel)
"出前チャンネル" (Food delivery channel)

Also I should note all the JPN only channels won't run outside of Japan but still install and banners work.

berger20 said

at 2:53 pm on Feb 1, 2009

If you're wondering I added the Mii Contest, Everbody Votes and Nintendo Channels as if they are installed from WAD's they won't be removed or deleted if something goes wrong on your system. I.e. if you change the shop region, other-region-downloaded-content will be removed (saves too) this way you keep them regardless of system changes (unless you manually delete them of course.

The "Official Wii System WAD's (Untouched)" that i'll be adding soon, are pretty much all the system WAD's ripped directly from official retail discs.
They are all different regions as most IOS's are USA-NTSC for use with all Wii's but I ripped them from PAL discs so some a PAL i.e. the news channel updates.
This means most won't require modification, as they're not signed and though not region-free, they are mainly 'universal', (Korean and Japanese Wii's may not be compatible).
You only need these as backups or for some homebrew installations that require the original IOS. There are no Korean IOS's in this pack.

Also I forgot to add: Can someone upload "Photo Channel v1.0", hopefully it can overwrite v1.1 or at least help development into downgrading back to the .mp3 support.

God I've been busy today, two apologies:
1st - I had to split the larger files into 2 pieces (rapidshare has a limit of 200MB for free "collector zone" users)
2nd - I have no idea what the "Proper" column is all about, if it means are they official, working versions then they're all "Proper"
if "Proper" means they haven't been Region-Free-d or Trucha Signed then they're not "Proper"
(If someone could add the "Codes" and "Proper" information that would be great for the community, sorry again.)

P.S. diggn a grave here... but I have region free channel hacks integrated into my sytem via preloader+ softmii... i was wondering how I could grab a hold of Everybodies Theatre Channel, Food delivery channel, and Animation Delivery Service.

why the hell dosn't nintendo bring these pointlessly awsome jappenese wii channel to the grand USA... honestly the jappenese are crazy and have some wicked ideas!

berger20 said

at 10:51 pm on Feb 24, 2009

Sam (aka Brothernex), Region Free Channel hack will only allow the channels to run but it won't make them work.
The channels (though region-free-d) only work on Japanese wii's in Japan. Changing any region settings won't work, (and could brick our wii).
I uploaded them for the Japanese users (or people who want the banners).

Secondly Food delivery channel, and Animation Delivery Service have yet to be released in Japan to my knowledge, thats why i typed 'Unreleased' in the info box.
Everybodies Theatre Channel (ETC) has been released but because you need 500 points to install and further points to rent clips i can't get it, hopefully someone else will upload it.
Plus they'll be in japanese only, which means if you need to "spend countless hours on the learn hiranga hombrew app till I can read it" you'll be lost - they're not subtitled.
The Animation Delivery Service might be an invisible channel that allows ETC to work, I'm English so after translating an article I'm still unsure of the differences, if any...?)

In response to the email you sent me:
"The Jappenese origin Channel Wads are not downloadable at wehackwii.pbwiki.com" - they are downloadable - rapidshare! You don't even need to be a member of the site for that.
"could send them to me via email or torrent... perferably email" - no, i uploaded them to this site for that purpose. Also don't email me, i hardly ever check my email - too much spam.
"Make them downloadable to USA baised browsers" - ........? Not quite sure what you weant there, if you mean "Make them available to American Wii users" then...:
They can easily be released for other regions but that would involve them setting up information 'packs' for each individual county, participating food outlets, broadcasters
and researchers/checkers. All depending on the application.

Finally learning hiragana (not hiranga) is not enough, japanese has 3 scripts: katakana & hiragana and has around 50,000 common logograms (kanji)

Brothernex said

at 1:44 pm on Mar 3, 2009

No... when in fact the region free channels you offer that are infact region free and I use preloader to install system menu hacks that integrate into my system that alow rf channels
I have my wii brick proofed to a small extent and I was wondering how i could find these dumped channels... and thank you for telling me that I can find them at rapidshare and thank you for your concern...

as for learning jappanese... i was kinda being sarcastic.... so thanks for being "that guy" and taking everything literally

"Okay... problem solved.... I will spend countless hours on the learn hiranga hombrew app till I can read it......*end sarcasm*"

RF'd the iPlayer Channel.

And wait, if you're PAL, why use a WAD?

techboy said

at 2:14 pm on Nov 22, 2009

You should be aware that the iPlayer won't work outside the UK. UK wii's are PAL, and the channel doesn't like NTSC.

Also, sycoraxic98: You have a point. No real reason to need a wad, unless someone wants it to take the banner...

Adam5366 said

techboy said

at 9:26 pm on Dec 5, 2009

001 is basically an anti-piracy error...it's been around for ages on disc games, but never seen it on a channel. Region won't matter. There's a different error you get for out-of-region use of iPlayer.

techboy said

Anyone here think we should have a Wii Firmware page for all the IOSes and RVLs? Wouldn't hurt if Big N decides to remove old stuff from NUS.

Also, the links to IOSes and RVLs that are at the bottom of the table of channels don't seem to work, not to mention they're likely outdated.

haruspex said

at 9:19 pm on Dec 6, 2009

Updated the link for the IOS and RVL wad files.

techboy said

at 3:01 pm on Dec 7, 2009

Thanks for the update haruspex. That repository is better than the dead RS links! You've been doing a lot on here lately...

Only complaint with that repository is its not thorough. Not every system title (or every version) is there. IOS20, IOS34, IOS50, IOS52 are missing, as well as all menus =< 3.1, Menu 3.3, Menu 3.4, all K region menus...(I could go on for a good paragraph!)

I'd be happy to donate time to add a page if anyone wants the missing titles.

haruspex said

at 7:42 pm on Dec 7, 2009

You're right, of course, techboy. It's more a temporary solution. It would be nice to create our own page for the NUS files, although it will be difficult to ensure it is always up to date and to agree on where to host the files. Any thoughts?

techboy said

at 9:48 pm on Dec 7, 2009

I'm up to the task. There really isn't that much to update. Seems like IOSes/Menus/MIOSes come only once per Wii System Update. Once they're posted, no need to worry about them. I'm debating which versions should be included...all of them?

Also, what's your opinion on including some rare/unofficial ones (clearly marked as such, or in a separate table on the page)? I have IOS3 stub (almost impossible to find), an old IOS4 v4, and IOS5 (ancient cIOS). What about cIOSes? Det1re has almost every cIOS listed too (http://det1re.de/d/index.php?dir=cios%2F) all the way back to rev4!

You don't by chance know where to find menu 1.0 do you?

Would you know how to create a sidebar graphic for "Wii Firmware"?

I have off Friday to work on creating a page. In the mean time, that det1re link can hold my spot :D
Sorry for the rambling!

If you have any comments/answers, post them and I'll take a look!

Also, all the work you've done on the wiki so far...Since you've been working on it, it seems so fresh & up to date!

techboy said

at 9:51 pm on Dec 7, 2009

Ah, forgot to answer about hosting the files: Mediafire. Where else? Pretty much every other wad in the site is there. Look at Timewalker or Matt6969...very little ads, fast speeds, files don't expire if not downloaded, what more could we ask for?

techboy said

at 2:46 pm on Dec 11, 2009

@Franz

that sort of explains it, as the BBC is only legally allowed to broadcast in brittain, since it's britsh, if i am right, you shouldn't be able to watch BBC iPlayer on the BBC site either, it probably depends on an IP check, or something else identifying you as american.
so if you want to watch BBC, it's gonna cost ya in any way, either buying the channels for T.V. or moving to Britain, as I know, since i have tried, or to have a payed proxy to watch it on computer.

these ways dont allow the use of iplayer and with bad luck not even the use of youtube, simply because of the flash player.

Could someone add the updated PAL Nintendo Channel?

haruspex said

@Xiphiidae, the updated PAL Nintendo Channel can be had with dop-IOS MOD, which is included in the WeHackWii Package

Xiphiidae said

at 7:21 pm on Dec 19, 2009

@haruspex: Whenever I try to install the Nintendo Channel with dop-IOS MOD, I just get a '-1' error message right after it initialises the network.

techboy said

at 8:27 pm on Dec 19, 2009

Does the same for me. It installs other titles fine. I think DOP-IOS is just buggy.

Sadly, I can't upload a WAD for you since i'm NTSC-U.

paulb said

at 12:14 am on Dec 20, 2009

you could just delete the channel and re-install via the shop channel.
that's just if dop doesn't work for you

Xiphiidae said

at 1:11 am on Dec 20, 2009

I've tried that, even after deleting the channel with AnyTitleDeleter, I keep getting a '204058' error from the shop channel whenever I try to download it.

techboy said

at 1:58 am on Dec 20, 2009

@Xiphiidae: Did you patch the trucha bug into IOS61 by chance? If so, the shop channel does that. Try reinstalling IOS61 without any patches.

As for the reason I was here in the first place at this hour (it's 1:00am)...
Does anyone know where to get a System Menu 1.0 wad, or an FS dump of a 1.0 console? It's not on NUS since it was a launch-day menu.

Xiphiidae said

at 2:29 am on Dec 20, 2009

@techboy: I just tried that, using both dop-IOS and downloading the IOS with NUSD and installing it with WadImport and it still gives me the same error.

techboy said

at 1:07 pm on Dec 20, 2009

Weird. Usually IOS61 is the issue when you get that in the shop...sorry to say, but I don't really know what else to try. I've never seen a case where reinstalling IOS61 didn't fix it.

techboy said

Turns out, DOP-IOS is indeed buggy with channel updates: http://code.google.com/p/dop-iosmod/issues/detail?id=8

Look at Bug #2...and post number 3. As it turns out, Nintendo Channel can't be installed after all. Probably something to do with the lack of a ticket on NUS...

Like haruspex said, they are hoping to release another version in the near future.

BBC Iplayer will work on u.s.a wii's but you need to have startpatch installed first version 4.2.3 is for system version 4.2

techboy said

at 1:40 pm on Dec 26, 2009

Actually, BBC iPlayer will not work on any wii outside the UK. BBC requires you have a UK IP Address to get the content. The IP restriction can be beaten with proxies, but not easily (and likely not cheaply).

It will never work on a US or JAP console without converting the unit to PAL, because the channel cannot output in NTSC. Patching the channel's NAND loader with Wanin's or Comex's custom one (which has a force PAL option) might work, but it's untested.

techboy said

Added MediaFire Mirror of WiiSpeak 2.0 since I DL'd it as part of the IOS & RVL Downloads page I'm working on (it's an RVL), and pointed the IOS56 to a ZIP'd wad on MediaFire (replaced unzipped IOS56 on RS which refused to download).

Also, does anyone think this should be sorted a bit better? Maybe 3 separate tables by region?

paulb said

at 2:19 am on Jan 8, 2010

1020 is usually not enough space on your system,
out of date ios's or ios's not trucha signed

also are you actually in the uk
otherwise it doesn't work

Yeah, the application only shows the TitleIDs.
dop IOS-MOD couldn't download the channel due to the absence of a ticket for the Nintendo Channel on NUS.

I have done a web search on this and lots of people are also having the same problem. The other forums tel people to just download and install with Shopping channel I can do this but not what I want I want a channel I can install and uninstall whithout needing a wifi connection. Zaphod said

at 12:56 pm on Jan 8, 2010

@paulb

I know that I'm not the only person who is having problems installing BBCi wad because there are loads of other forums littered with the same problem. And all their solutions seem to say that my IOS is not trucha signed or that I need to uninstall and reinstall cIOS aka 249/250. I know that my cIOS is correct because I have taken the wii back to a virgin state and then reinstalled everything but still the 1020 error on that 1 wad. I am really confused by this because I have no problem installing any other wad. All I can think is the iPlayer install from the shop channel contains something that the wad does not! I cannot test this because NUS downloader cannot download iPlayer. Any theories?

techboy said

at 1:46 pm on Jan 8, 2010

@paulb: Can you get the iPlayer content on Youtube? Last I checked, you can't. If he wants youtube, there is an animated Youtube channel on the GBATemp boards that was released not long ago.

@Zaphod: I think the BBC iPlayer wad that's going around might be a bad dump. If you have wwPacker, try running the wad through the "wwPacker - JustSign". I've had -1020s caused by people forgetting to re-sign wads before releasing them. Also, for the future, if the cIOS was hosed, other wads would not install.

Cheers tried wwpacker and it worked fine the output wad installed with no problems! Can my signed wad be uploaded here?

Also a quick question about making wad files: Is there any way of creating a wad of a channel or IOS by using the wii i.e not having to dump the whole nand and use a pc to create and pack wad files? My aim is to create wads of all my cIOS's so that they can be installed without using an installer application.

My suggestion would be if you can get the bbciplayer from the shop channel,
why not do similar?
Apparently this tool helps with this
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=149224
Unfortunately it doesn't list the apps, just says unnamed title....any help would be appreciated
Also, isn't bbciplayer just content from the tv & radio?
That was what my other suggestion was aimed at with youtube

Zaphod said

If I use wadcreator to dump a channel or ios to wad, do I need to sign the wad using wwpacker or similar tool so that I can use the wad on another wii? I have tried it only on my wii with good results I have successfuly ripped all my IOS's to wad except that I can't dump cIOS249/250 or IOS57. Are my wads locked only for my wii?

@Zaphod: Yes, you do need to re-sign the wads you extract. If you use wwPacker, just drop the WAD on the "wwPacker - JustSign" and it will do the rest.

@Lokao0: Yes you can use it, no it shouldn't brick. Ocarina is not dependent on the menu in any way. And don't use CAPS LOCK!

Zaphod said

at 9:04 pm on Jan 9, 2010

@techboy & paulb
Thanks again for the info I think I've found an easier way to accomplish my goal. I did a complete nand dump earlier and decrypted and extracted it so that I can use it with the ShowMiiWads app. From there I can pack wads of any title/IOS and then sign them with wwPacker. Nice! Could not be ar**d with all that moving the sd card back and forth from wii to pc :)

My goal is to make a completely automated softmod from wad files and a batch wad installer so only one app needs to be executed. I do a lot of mods for people and it will make the process quicker and easier.

paulb said

at 6:23 am on Jan 10, 2010

sounds like a good idea zaphod
only problem would be it's region based.
but i guess you would be doing it for friends anyway.
i think cioscorp does that too mind

Zaphod said

at 12:00 pm on Jan 10, 2010

@paulb
It won't be region based because I thought IOS's were universal the only thing that would be region specific would be if I include channels or system menu. cIOScorp requires the execution of more than one app for a complete install I hope to make a single installer that will install a vulnerable IOS if none exists and from there install cIOS249, and then all other cIOS' and the cMIOS and I may include the latest system menu update as well. The only thing missing will be bootmii as boot2 or IOS but that can be an optional install.

paulb said

at 12:38 pm on Jan 10, 2010

yeah my mistake about the region
don't get me wrong
i think it's a great idea mate, best of luck
i wouldn't have the patience for that much work

techboy said

at 1:32 pm on Jan 10, 2010

@zaphod: Bootmii as an IOS can be packed into a WAD if you wanted. Install it on your wii from Hackmii, and extract it like any other IOS.

As for a complete install app, what came to mind when you said it was a user-interaction-free TBR (just run and you get a patched IOS36), mixed with Wad Manager MultiMod (a batch wad manager).

Also, why did you want to extract all the IOSes? You can use NUS Downloader's "Emulate Wii System Update" to get the latest wads, properly signed.

Zaphod said

at 2:12 pm on Jan 10, 2010

@techboy
cheers for the info about the botmii IOS. I know it seems starnge to want to extract all the IOS's from my Wii and not use NUS. But I've modded a lot of consoles for friends and sometimes a few weeks after the mod they complain about not being able to play a particular game or wiiware title. I thought that it would be a good idea to mod a wii to be a complete clone of my own in terms of firmware and software, that way I know there should be very few problems. Plus some of my mates are not exactly the sharpest tools in the box and if I told them to use DOPIOS for example to update and sign their IOS's they'd prob think I was talking chinese or brick their console:)

Anyways I've got a mockup installer ready to be tested and I'm modding my girlfriends brothers wii on thursday so will try it out then. I've no idea what system menu version he's got only that it's a virgin console. Am hoping it's system menu 3.4 or 4.2 (the most fiddly mods I've found) so I can put to good test!

ps Anyone know of any app that can backup every game savefile to either sd or usb and install them all in one action. i.e something like savegame manager that will do every save file instead of one at a time? Or an app to pack every save file into a wad file for installation on any wii?

techboy said

at 3:02 pm on Jan 10, 2010

No problem about the bootmii IOS info. Thanks for explaining why you extracted your IOSes.

There is no homebrew tool that can do a backup of all savegames at once AFAIK. Bluedump and Save Manager only do them one at a time. Wii Backup Disc supposedly includes all of them in the backups it creates though. If you want to try it, you should be able to run it through a disc launcher, although it tends to work best from a USB Loader.

I already installed TV channel guide and it worked, but the Wii no Ma didn't, I suspect that this Wii no Ma channel hasn't been hacked so that is fully functional with out of region wii. If you have any suggestions while I'm editing it, leave a comment. Please don't steal my lock if I'm editing. It's happened before to me...lost an hour of work on the IOS/RVL page in December because someone stole my lock on the page.

As for the link, pretty much. The only thing it didn't really mention was the 2 versions of Wii Speak channel.

Now it's just a matter of finding a lot of these titles that are missing.

paulb said

I just hadn't though of NTSC owners wanting to use BBCiPlayer.......hurrrdurrr

Apart from that, I used to live in the UK
Why the hell would anyone want to watch the generic crap they put out?

Which titles are missing from your list?

techboy said

None. I was referring to WADs that aren't uploaded and title ID info. Extra googling seems to indicate I have all the currently released ones posted on the tables. Getting some of the wads might be a pain, especially the JAP ones.

As for the iPlayer thing, makes sense now. As for the content, I'm in the USA, so can't really comment :/

Hm. Just looked at the wad I have from NUS. It's title ID starts with 00010008, so it's a hidden title (like EULA/Region Select).

I unpacked it and it has no banner. The 00000000.app contained the following when opened in a hex editor: setpersonaldata.0906231905

It's the personal info config component used by Wii No Ma by the looks of it. Why NUS Downloader listed it as "Demae/Food Service Channel" I don't know. I'll update it eventually to indicate that it's a hidden Wii No Ma component.

Also, do you by chance have the NTSC Wii + Internet? No one I know has that anymore since it's so large. All I have is a homebrew made variant which uses the original banner and opens http://www.nintendo.com/images/wii/wii_internet.swf in Opera when run.

Demae Food Channel Region Freed by Me http://www.mediafire.com/?yjmnzvze5mt Tested and Works It was a hidden channel until I region freed it

techboy said

at 5:52 pm on May 1, 2010

It's not RF. Now its USA...I'll fix it.

Also, it appears now that there are 2 different titles here. The Demae I had posted was titled HCCJ, but yours is HCHJ. I'm testing them now.

techboy said

at 6:24 pm on May 1, 2010

Test results are in. Turns out, there are indeed to separate titles here.

HCCJ (the one I had) is a hidden title. It's the "Set Personal Data" component used by Demae and Wii No Ma.
HCHJ (what you posted) is the real food service channel.

Uploaded both an official and an RF'd Demae channel. The one Marlon uploaded was outdated.

Try downloading it again. Mediafire has been having issues with downloads dropping part way through today.

I just downloaded the file myself and it was fine. What tool are you using to open the zip file? It opens fine in Winzip and 7-zip.

Why dosn't Wii no Ma work I tried all the options but they all send me back to the wii menu

techboy said

I'm in the USA and can't read Japanese, so I can't test it myself. All I do know is that the WAD is good. Did you ever get the "Set Personal Data" to install?I think Wii No Ma uses that.

Also, I'm not sure if you can use Wii No Ma outside of Japan.

wolfking said

at 6:03 pm on May 30, 2010

NVM, i figured it out. You will need an authentic(or almost)wii to use it. I for example used this AnyRegion Changer at http://www.wiihacks.com/general-homebrew-hack-issues/37037-region-change-4-2-u-wii-nand-question.html .You will need this or an actually wii from NTSC-J to use wiinoma,as well as the food service

Hi, i followed the threads on wii no ma and have no luck yet. My wii no ma runs till the screen where it prompts me to prepare to enter a japan residential address. Afterwards it went to the wii menu screen.

Mine is a 4.2U, which I have successfully downgraded to 4.1J. I have also used ARC to change the top three options to Japan/Japanese. In addition I also changed the shopping region to '1' for Japan.

I also installed the 'Set Personal Data' and tested with the Food Channel. It works. The Food Channel eventually sent me to a Wii Settings page asking me to fill up the address. I have filled in everything and even managed to get into the food channel where I can order food.

I also checked my IOS55 reportedly used by wii no ma. My is V5604 with fakesign.

But then still, I can't get wii no ma running!

I would appreciate any help as I have been troubleshooting this for days.

Thanks!

techboy said

at 12:31 pm on Jun 2, 2010

IOS55 v5604 does not exist. You likely mean v5406.

Also, you typically don't need the fakesign bug in any IOS except IOS36 and the system menu IOS (and your cIOS of course). Adding the fakesign bug to IOS53, IOS55, IOS56, or IOS61 has been known to cause issues with Wiiware and the Shop Channel. Can't say if the same goes for Wii No Ma.

I'm in the northeast USA and don't have a JAP wii to examine, so I can't say much more your issue. Maybe someone on here will have more insight into this.

Joseph said

at 1:03 pm on Jun 2, 2010

Hi techboy: thx!

Sorry its a typo, I meant v5406.

I had followed this link http://wehackwii.pbworks.com/WiiWare that said "and you can/should apply the signature hash check when prompted" for IOS 53, 55, and 56.

Being a noob, I followed literally. Nevertheless, I used Dop-Mii to disable the fakesign for the IOSes 53, 55 and 56 and tried the wii no ma again.

Still to no avail. I tried both the downloaded wii no ma from the Shop Channel and from this site, both yield the same problem..

paulb said

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/AnyRegion_Changer

But before you use it make sure you read the information and
fully understand the changes it can make to your Wii
You CAN brick your Wii if not used properly

TBH you can probably find most of the content on youtube via the opera browser

If you can get Sycoraxic98 suggestion to work I would try that first
Although I wouldn't know where to start with that
I think it's to do with changing you ip etc

You didn't change the region correctly. The wii still thinks it's a USA console. Check the settings in Any Region Changer again.

TT likely won't approve of people redistributing modified HBC banners.

Besides, it's just a forwarder for HBC, seems a bit useless. If you want to, you can upload it in the "Custom Channels" table at the bottom, but I will remove it if/when TT complains.

Also, a tip for you: Update your HBC to 1.0.6. Your video shows 1.0.1...

Menu change your wii to Japan Change Everything to Japan and it should work but then you will have to reinstall all your channels and get Homebrew CHannel NTSC-J

Joseph said

at 10:54 pm on Jul 6, 2010

Sorry for the late update. I eventually also got Wii no Ma to work. Initially I used ARC to change everything to JPN. That still did not work.

After which I installed both the 'Region Select' and 'EULA' from http://wehackwii.pbworks.com/IOS-and-RVL-Downloads. I do not know which got it to work, but the reason why I tried these were because my wii was initially a NTSC-U when first formatted, so I thought it may have stayed that way and Region Select should do the trick. Then, the EULA thingy. I thought ARC had solved that but when I went to Wii Settings, the EULA is still not accepted. It became accepted only when I installed the EULA mentioned above.

Hope these two solutions can be of help.

techboy said

at 1:14 pm on Jul 7, 2010

techboy said

If they are saved as a title on the wii, they can be dumped. If they are streaming video, then no, they likely not.

MarlonHax said

at 11:47 pm on Jul 8, 2010

They are bought from the Wii Store

techboy said

at 1:36 pm on Jul 9, 2010

I don't think you can based on a quick google :( If there were a way to dump these, I'm sure we'd have a section of WADs for them by now.

Has anyone gotten Minna Nintendo Channel to work on non-J region Wiis? The closest I have gotten is to a 177404 error following the 協力します/協力しません section, which is just a 404.

cocomonk22 said

at 10:14 pm on Jul 11, 2010

I've taken a look at why Minna no Nintendo Channel returns a 177404:

On a Japanese Wii, the data is loaded from http://entj.wapp.wii.com/4/JP/ja/csdata.LZ
On a US Wii, the data is loaded from http://entj.wapp.wii.com/4/US/en/csdata.LZ

Since this is the Japanese server, US/en does not exist, so the channel must be tricked somehow to load from /4/JP/ja/csdata.LZ

cocomonk22 said

at 1:56 am on Jul 12, 2010

I modified the Minna no Nintendo Channel to go to the JP/ja/csdata.LZ, but it fails to get http://entj.wapp.wii.com/4/JP/ja/message1 and http://entj.wapp.wii.com/4/JP/ja/message2

This was done by changing the US to JP and the en to ja, but it looks like csdata.LZ may contain data from multiple regions, so it is still sending the incorrect US data which is causing error 262000. It looks like the values of the region being sent to the channel needs to be faked as coming from a Japanese system.

techboy said

Did you region change the console at one point? If you did, make sure you completely RC'd it back to Japan with something like ARC.

If that's not the case, verify that IOS31, IOS56, a Japan EULA, and a Japan Region Select are installed.

techboy said

I'll be damned...you're banned from WiiSpeak.

There is a universal unban code for ocarina floating around the net. You can try applying that ocarina code using Gecko OS 1.9 or newer (it has a channel launcher), but I've had limited success with ocarina on channels.

There's also a file on your wii you can hack to change your identifier and unban the console, but I don't have the details on it ATM.

Earl said

yeah i tried the universal unban no luck i mean you mainly only use wii speak for games but u should just want the channel to be able to work ya know

paulb said

I had a bit of a google and all I can come up with
is it's an issue from 2009 that could possibly be
bypassed by changing your IP or mac address

I wish I could help,...sorry
Good luck with that and if you do manage to fix it let us know Earl

techboy said

at 9:14 pm on Jul 19, 2010

I can't seem to find the topic about the file editing unban. It was in a topic on GBATemp somewhere, but searching hasn't revealed much.

Only thing I can find is an unban for MH Tri that involved changing your Wii's ID number with the pinkfish disc.

Netflix Channel added.

Earl said

just to let you know for this the only solution is to call nintendo and be unbanned so another way would need to be created to do it manually

techboy said

at 11:34 pm on Oct 27, 2010

Are you aware that the last post regarding the ban was in July?

Also, there is a way to unban without calling Nintendo, but it means using Comex's NAND formatter, which deletes everything and carries a good chance of bricking your wii.

This is the channels page not homebrew and hasn't been updated in 4 months.

Apart from that, there isn't much difference between v1.3 & 1,7 anyway, they both install .wad's
