Good to know when loading games with WiiGators GC backup launcher (GCBL)
- Always start Gamecube backup launcher with the DVD already inserted.
- GCBL can take as much as 5min before you get the start options, just be patient for as long as you don't get a reboot or error GCBL is still trying.
- While Multi discs work, one game per disc is much more stable and have a bigger chance of working.

PLEASE LIST ENTRIES ALPHABETICALLY
PLEASE READ ME (Guidelines)
Please mention which version you are using under the "NOTES" section
- If a game is working it doesn't always make it green, as titles marked green should be/are 99.9-100% compatible. See color chart below.
- The NOTES section is only for quirks regarding the way the game plays with the loader. Notes like 'Works Great' are not needed and simply add clutter.
- PAL TO NTSC FORCED isn't a valid region. Regarding regions, please don't take an existing entry and completely change the region - start a new entry, or add it ALONG with the existing region.
- Extended Information to be placed at the bottom of the page, only for games that are marked as not working for most people, but working for some. only people who have it working should post info.
- If you are the first person to add a game then the confirmed column should read 0 (as it is unconfirmed). Every person should then add 1 to that when they have tested it as working.

Green represents games that work 100% or just have slight audio/video stutter or anything else that doesn't effect gameplay. |

Red represents games that do not load and have major problems and/or are unplayable, or have consistent lock ups. |

Update:
GameCube Backup Launcher 0.2 for Wii
Changes:
- Increased speed of reloader
- Fixed bug in PokeMon XD
- Increased speed of audio fix stuff
- Allow to select to start disc itself when using a multi game disc
- Avoid green screen when starting a game (button A)
- Disc change support on startup screen
- Disc change supported for all start methods
- Fixed Kirby's Air Ride
- Fixed non working PAL games on PAL console, when pressing B (e.g. Wario World)
- Support for Freeloader
- Support for Action Replay
- The loader will change the screen format in Wii mode to the screen format of the disc inserted at startup (this solves NTSC problems).
Installation is same as old versions.
Update information:
You don't need to run miospatcher, if you already have a previous version and only want to use "rungcbackup" for starting.
If you want to use Wii Backup Launcher or the disc channel for starting, you need to run miospatcher (and press X).

paulb said

hi keopx, you want to download v0.20
then copy both gcbackuplauncher & miospatcher to the apps folder on your sd card
run & install miospatcher (this allows backup gc software to be played)
then use gcbackuplauncher to load the disks (unless you set it to run though the disk channel)

Hi guys, i got myself a GC controller and i'm currently trying to install the launcher... i', on the menu where i must press A to install... but there is an option where i can switch MIOS version... it showed MIOS v5 by default... is this automatically detected on my console?... or is this something i should know first and then select the right one before installing?. Help much appreciated, thanks in advance. :)

It worked great.... just a question... if i want the option to run the games through the disk channel... do i need to unpatch the mios and repatch it pressing X ?... ... and another question... when im playing a game, if i want to quit, is there a way to do it directly to the wii menu with the wiimote... or is only posible turning the wii off and on?... thanks in advance.

Right now to my understanding USB support for gamecube is a far way off since they need to re-write a lot of stuff for it to work, USB for Wii is onething since USB is native there but for gamecube it's a whole other ball game

Tested F-Zero GX as well. Works well, except Garage Mode has bugs (car is only a hull once you complete, has stats and parts of original) and cannot obtain an emblem.

Hey, people...I'm sorta new here and need some assistance. Yeah, whenever I run the MIOS Patcher, it just goes to a black screen, no matter what I press with the GC controller. Same goes for the GC Launcher. Is there something I did wrong? My Wii works fine but it's a little uneasy.

my memory card 128Mb Logic 3, 2013 blocks, there are times when the wii does not recognize it, do not know if it's a problem with any software or the memory card that works fine.

When I'm trying to load Pokemon XD, the screen become green and then the Wii restarts. Does someone know what is the problem? I can actually play The Legend of Zelda : Wind Waker. (of course, these are backups)
paulb said

@pier-olivier
Is it PAL or NTSC
PAL apparently does not work
here is a compatibility list for you http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/index.php?title=GCOS_Gamecube_Compatibility_List:_NTSC-U
Also green screen is usually an out of region game
ie trying to play PAL on NTSC
Pier-Olivier said

Wow, I didn't though I would got a answer after 2 hours and a half after my post. O_O
Anyway, I'm 100% sure, with what you just tell me, that the backup of Pokemon XD I have on this DVD is NTSC, because my friend can play it on his Wii. If PAL absolutely doesn't work, then it's NTSC for sure.
I should have been more precise. I put the game [Pokemon XD] inside the Wii, then I open the GC Backup Channel (like my friend). The channel opens, I see the logo, and 6-7 seconds later, the screen become completely green, then the Wii restart to the Caution Screen. The text to let me choose between NTSC, PAL, Auto-Detect, etc. isn't appearing... It does the same thing if I retry right after. The Legend of Zelda : Wind Waker is working (except for the dungeon bug, but that's not my main problem and I know it's a bug for everyone).
So, I have the patch to make the GC backup disc works and the problem seems to happens to me only. Does anyone can help me please? :-) (Ty paulb for the fast answer :D)

@pier-olivier
Unfortunately the default for post updates on this site is hourly
And my PC just died so I'm a little busy re-installing stuff on a new rig
Do you have the most recent version of MIOS? (v0.1 Theta)
It sounds like your MIOS may need re-installing
Have you updated the Wii since installing the backup launcher/ MIOS?
BTW you can install the backuplauncher so it runs through the disk channel

Hello.
I need some advice because I'm very noob when it comes to this stuff, i'm sorry. ok, to the questions. Which is the best version right now? What program do you use when you burn the game to the DVD? Do you have to do something before you can play GC games? And when you burn the game to the DVD, what speed and other settings is the best? Thanks in advance! =)
paulb said
at 11:09 pm on Mar 18, 2010
@metroid
The most current version is the best to use and is linked just underneath the downloads section
When installing you can set it to load via the disc channel, which then gives you options to set for region etc...
Auto is usually the best option
Imageburn is the best program to use for burning, use dvd-r at the slowest speed 2-4 is usually ok

Hello,
Most of my GC backups works nicely but that one doesn't.
After selecting a game from the menu; the Wii restarts itself...NTSC or PAL version.
Is there any new mios or anything related to that can fix it?
Same thing happens with The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Masterquest. Multigames I created work nicely btw.
On: Wii 4.2U
Used: GC backup launcher .2
Compatibility list says it works

@metroid: I don't know if you have Costco in your area, but they usually have Sony DVD+R 100 ct. "buy-1-get-1 free" or "buy-1-get-1 50% off". I've been using these since I first modded my Wii and they work great. Good media, low price, best bet.

im confused on this whole process.. i just got a wii that had firmware 3.2 and i bought a 4 gb sd card so i upgraded to 4.2 so i can use it. i installed homebrew and created a backup on nand with boot 2. im trying to play gamecube backups and im going to buy a new hard drive so i can use usb loader and load wii games from there. i dont know which to do first usb loader or gamecube backup launcher or even the process of doing the one for gamecube. what can i do or what should i do?
paulb said
at 8:30 pm on May 18, 2010
@Armando
How much of the process have you completed with regards to hacking your Wii?
Have you fully completed all the tasks listed here - http://wehackwii.pbworks.com/USB-Loader
If so it's a simple case of putting the usbloader files on your sd card
And for GC backup support just download the latest package listed at the top of this screen
and follow the readme included
It's a very simple process and doesn't matter which you do first if you have fully completed installing cIOS's
from the usbloader page
Feel free to sing out if you have any questions/problems

What custom content did you add?
Also I would check the readme that comes with the original files just to make sure you don't need WiiGators
permission to modify the code
AndrewP said

do I need to get a PAL iso for a PAL wii or does it not matter?

No, provided your TV can support 60Htz you can run either.
NTSC versions tend to run at a better rate than PAL anyway.....don't get me started on that though :D
You just set it to auto detect if I remember correctly, been a while since I played any GC games on the Wii

Off the top of my head the slowest speed possible is recommended
Although I have burned at x8 and they work just fine
