Good to know when loading games with WiiGators GC backup launcher (GCBL)

  1. Always start Gamecube backup launcher with the DVD already inserted.
  2. GCBL can take as much as 5min before you get the start options, just be patient for as long as you don't get a reboot or error GCBL is still trying.
  3. While Multi discs work, one game per disc is much more stable and have a bigger chance of working.

PLEASE LIST ENTRIES ALPHABETICALLY

PLEASE READ ME (Guidelines)

Please mention which version you are using under the "NOTES" section

  1. If a game is working it doesn't always make it green, as titles marked green should be/are 99.9-100% compatible. See color chart below.
  2. The NOTES section is only for quirks regarding the way the game plays with the loader. Notes like 'Works Great' are not needed and simply add clutter.
  3. PAL TO NTSC FORCED isn't a valid region. Regarding regions, please don't take an existing entry and completely change the region - start a new entry, or add it ALONG with the existing region.
  4. Extended Information to be placed at the bottom of the page, only for games that are marked as not working for most people, but working for some. only people who have it working should post info.
  5. If you are the first person to add a game then the confirmed column should read 0 (as it is unconfirmed). Every person should then add 1 to that when they have tested it as working.

Compatibility Legend

Green represents games that work 100% or just have slight audio/video stutter or anything else that doesn't effect gameplay.
Orange represents games that mostly work but with more serious but playable bugs, or random lockups (random doesn't mean lock up every time at the same spot in the game).
Red represents games that do not load and have major problems and/or are unplayable, or have consistent lock ups.

Hello.

I need some advice because I'm very noob when it comes to this stuff, i'm sorry. ok, to the questions. Which is the best version right now? What program do you use when you burn the game to the DVD? Do you have to do something before you can play GC games? And when you burn the game to the DVD, what speed and other settings is the best? Thanks in advance! =)

@metroid
The most current version is the best to use and is linked just underneath the downloads section
When installing you can set it to load via the disc channel, which then gives you options to set for region etc...
Auto is usually the best option
Imageburn is the best program to use for burning, use dvd-r at the slowest speed 2-4 is usually ok

Hello,

Most of my GC backups works nicely but that one doesn't.
After selecting a game from the menu; the Wii restarts itself...NTSC or PAL version.

Is there any new mios or anything related to that can fix it?
Same thing happens with The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Masterquest. Multigames I created work nicely btw.

On: Wii 4.2U
Used: GC backup launcher .2

Compatibility list says it works

Sorry, I forgot to write the name.
It's: Legend of Zelda - Collectors Edition NTSC

@metroid: I don't know if you have Costco in your area, but they usually have Sony DVD+R 100 ct. "buy-1-get-1 free" or "buy-1-get-1 50% off". I've been using these since I first modded my Wii and they work great. Good media, low price, best bet.

paulb said

@Dewedi
It's cool that you include the FSTFIX info in the table
BUT, not explaining anywhere on the page what FSTFIX is
kinda mutes the point mate

New question: How to use AR with 3rd party memory card and stuff ;P

Armando diaz said

at 9:05 am on May 18, 2010

im confused on this whole process.. i just got a wii that had firmware 3.2 and i bought a 4 gb sd card so i upgraded to 4.2 so i can use it. i installed homebrew and created a backup on nand with boot 2. im trying to play gamecube backups and im going to buy a new hard drive so i can use usb loader and load wii games from there. i dont know which to do first usb loader or gamecube backup launcher or even the process of doing the one for gamecube. what can i do or what should i do?

paulb said

at 8:30 pm on May 18, 2010

@Armando
How much of the process have you completed with regards to hacking your Wii?
Have you fully completed all the tasks listed here - http://wehackwii.pbworks.com/USB-Loader

If so it's a simple case of putting the usbloader files on your sd card
And for GC backup support just download the latest package listed at the top of this screen
and follow the readme included

It's a very simple process and doesn't matter which you do first if you have fully completed installing cIOS's
from the usbloader page

Feel free to sing out if you have any questions/problems

BTW, WiiPower's improving the GC compatibility with NeoGamma R9. Maybe you can update this to reflect that.

paulb said

at 8:39 pm on Jun 19, 2010

@YayMii
What would you like reflected exactly?
This is a wiki, kept up to date by users.
If you have any info please feel free to update the page as it's sparsely maintained to start with
Is there a new version of mIOS out?

no chance to run it and save without GC's memory card? ://

AndrewP said

at 8:26 pm on Jul 29, 2010

nope you have to have one. and i was lucky and had one lying around, but it would be cool if wiigator made suuport for wii system memory.

AndrewP said

at 8:28 pm on Jul 29, 2010

super mario sunshine NTSC-U works.

Manda said

is there a way to save the gc savegames in the wii? cuz my Mem card is dead.

AndrewP said

at 9:33 pm on Jul 29, 2010

nope. but im going to update this page with new downloads and GameCube Backup loader channels. just gotta test them out first.

paulb said

at 6:17 am on Jul 30, 2010

If someone could only figure out how to add USB support for GC
then we would all be laughing...
I love having the ability to dump all my games to HDD without the fear of my 4 year old killing the DVD's
Just wish I could do the same with my old GC collection

paulb said

at 6:43 am on Jul 30, 2010

@Daniel
I tidied up the table at the top as it looked wrong.
Apologies if you were in the middle of something though.....just sing out if you were and we can revert it for you

AndrewP said

at 4:12 pm on Jul 30, 2010

nope i was just adding the gamecube backup launcher channels, and yes i made these custom, but i forgot that i could just add them to the table thats already there. but i was playing lugis mansion (backup of course and i decided to go play battle stadium DON and cant read what it said so it erased and change the region of my memory card and deleted my luigis mansion game save. and i got really mad because i got really far.

paulb said

at 9:05 pm on Jul 30, 2010

Yeah I noticed you had your name on the author column.
What custom content did you add?

Also I would check the readme that comes with the original files just to make sure you don't need WiiGators
permission to modify the code

AndrewP said

at 9:26 pm on Jul 30, 2010

actually i didn't modify the code i just created the channels. and i put my name in the author column by accident. my name is the password to for the GC backup launcher channels.

paulb said

at 9:30 pm on Jul 30, 2010

So they are channel forwarders to the backup launcher?

AndrewP said

at 10:13 pm on Jul 30, 2010

umm, i still dont know what a forwarder is, but i used WaDder 1.2 to turn the .dol file into a custom .wad Channel.

i have tested the star fox adventures NTSCU on wii gator's gc backup launcher while using cIOSCORP 3.6 Extra(installed wii gator's GCBL .02,or sumthin like that) from the disc channel and it played no problem, voices and all....heres the link to a TON of iso's for the gc http://www.emuparadise.org/Nintendo_Gamecube_ISOs/42

BlueLegion said

at 3:14 pm on Apr 6, 2011

do I need to get a PAL iso for a PAL wii or does it not matter?

paulb said

at 8:44 pm on Apr 6, 2011

No, provided your TV can support 60Htz you can run either.
NTSC versions tend to run at a better rate than PAL anyway.....don't get me started on that though :D

You just set it to auto detect if I remember correctly, been a while since I played any GC games on the Wii

BlueLegion said

at 7:19 am on Apr 7, 2011

thanks. one last question: what speed do i have to burn at?

paulb said

at 7:27 am on Apr 7, 2011

Off the top of my head the slowest speed possible is recommended
Although I have burned at x8 and they work just fine
